FERNDALE, Wash. — Construction of the new Ferndale High School continues with some additional buildings included.
The Ferndale School District has decided to accept those parts of the new facility that they wanted to include but weren’t sure it could afford.
After cost and risk analyses , the district is moving forward with “extras” such as a horticulture greenhouse, an aquaculture center, and an Ag sciences building.
The district noted that making such investments now will secure fixed costs and mitigate against price escalation, support its goal of making capital investments while affordable, and adding significant value to the high school campus that will enhance student learning, teacher recruitment and retention and community engagement for the next 25-plus years.
