Evergreen State College listed in 10 worst for free speech

OLYMPIA, Wash. –  The Evergreen State College was named one of the 10 worst in the country for free speech the “Foundation for Independent Rights in Education”.

The Seattle Times reports Evergreen made the by a national nonprofits list for censoring biology professor Brett Weinstein, who objected to the College’s Day of Absence last spring, in which white students were asked to go off campus to discuss race issues, while students of color remained on campus.

In a statement responding to the listing, Evergreen officials said Evergreen “has always been a college that embraces difficult issues through dialogue and debate.”
