BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Local fans of disc golf are hoping to repurpose a neglected property near Bellis Fair Mall, and they are asking the public to help make their dream a reality.
The Whatcom Disc Golf Club has started a fundraising page for the project that would create an 18-basket course on the wooded property between the Target store and Bakerview Road.
Members say they will clean thousands of pounds of garbage from the property but need funds for infrastructure, equipment and what they call the most important need: liability insurance.
They have raised about $6,400 of their $18,000 goal so far.
