Canadian government changing testing policy for trips less than 72 hours

OTTAWA, Canada – The Canadian Government is changing its COVID-19 testing requirements for travelers looking to take a short trip over the border.

CTV reports that Canadians looking to cross into the United States for less than 72 hours will no longer need to provide proof of a negative PCR test to return.

Those tests are expensive and critics of the testing policy say that many travelers looking to spend a few hours in the U.S. couldn’t justify the $150-$300 price tag.

People looking to stay in the U.S. for longer than 72 hours will still need to take the costly test.

Canadian officials have not announced when this new policy will go into effect.

U.S. travelers planning to visit Canada can check the requirement for entry here.
