Blaine man killed in motorcycle crash on I-5

BELLIGHAM, Wash. – An overnight motorcycle crash claimed the life of a Blaine man.

The Washington State Patrol said 37-year-old Vincent Englert was riding on I-5 northbound near Lakeway Drive on Thursday night, June 30th, when he failed to negotiate a curve.

Englert drove into the median and hit a guardrail, throwing him off the overpass and onto Lakeway Drive.

Part of the guardrail hit a car travelling on Lakeway, but the driver of that vehicle wasn’t injured.

Investigators say that speed and aggressive driving were both factors in the crash.
