BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Birch Equipment won the 2023 Ski to Sea race to make it back-to-back wins for the team.

They won the seven-leg relay race from the Mount Baker Ski Area to Bellingham Bay with a time of 5:54:43.

It was the 50th anniversary of the Ski to Sea race and the second since the pandemic shut it down for two years.

480 teams with athletes from around the world took part in the race this year.

The sea kayak leg was cancelled around 4 p.m. because of high winds and dozens of kayakers had to be pulled out of the water.

Boomer’s Drive-In, Beaver Tree Service, Inn at Lynden, and Bellingham Firefighters (Whatcom Open Team) rounded out the top five.
