BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham woman who stole $200,000 from the Silver Reef Casino was sentenced to prison.

She reportedly used her employee access to steal from the casino’s vault in November 2018.

The Department of Justice reports Lummi Tribal member Shannon Morris was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Seattle to 10 months in prison and two years of supervised release.

Court records say Morris claimed that a man with a gun forced her to rob the casino and said he had placed a bomb that would go off if she didn’t do it.

The DOJ says that statement changed over time.

Morris later led investigators to the location where she hid the cash in Ferndale.
