BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Website BackgroundChecks.org just released a report of the Top 100 School Districts in Washington, and Whatcom County has six school districts on that list.
Bellingham ranks highest at 25, Blaine is the lowest at 82, and Nooksack Valley (34th), Lynden (41st), Meridian (54th) and Ferndale (57th) are sprinkled in between the two.
To put these rankings in perspective, the study looked at 9,577 school districts.
Background Checks looked at student performance in reading and math, dropout rates, school funding and area poverty rates to come up with the list.
Mercer Island School District was 1st, with a 95% graduation rate.
