WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – An annual report on homelessness in Whatcom County is showing some promising statistics.

The Whatcom County Health Department conducted their annual Point In Time homeless count in late February of this year.

According to the report, the number of homeless people living in Whatcom County decreased by 3% compared to last year.

There was also a 15% decrease in the number of homeless families with children.

Health Department officials found that nearly 75% of those experiencing homelessness were staying in a shelter or transitional housing, as opposed to on the streets or in their vehicles.
