ACME, Wash. – A Whatcom County Fire Station is asking for the public’s help in recovering thousands of dollars in stolen equipment.
In a video posted to their Facebook page, Fire District 16 said that over $18,000 in equipment was taken from Station 86 in Acme over the weekend.
A station spokesperson said the theft was discovered as crews were preparing to head out to a car accident.
The missing items includes power saws, generators and a flood light.
The spokesperson added that the stolen items will take time to replace, but the station does have backup equipment for the time being.
Anyone with information on these thefts should contact Fire Chief Hank Maleng at 360-595-2161.
A collection jar has been set up at the Acme General Store, 2035 Valley Highway, to help offset the costs of the theft and you can send donations to Whatcom County Fire District 16, P.O. Box 37, Acme, WA 98220.
