Grand In Your Hand Contest Rules


From 9/5/23 through 10/27/23, listen each weekday from 6:00am to 6:00pm for the Grand In Your Hand contest keyword. There will be a different keyword announced each day; each keyword may be announced more than once per day. Once you hear the keyword, go to kpug1170.com to the Grand In Your Hand contest page. Complete a registration, including the correct contest keyword, for the chance to win $1,000 (ARV: $1,000 – Face value of check). You must complete the registration by 11:59 pm that day to be eligible to win that day only.  One entry per person, per keyword, per day, per station in Bellingham, WA. One winner per keyword will be randomly chosen from all eligible entrants on the following business day (9/6/23 through 10/30/23) and notified by phone and email. Each winner will be awarded $1,000. The phone number from the chosen entry will be called and the reaction recorded for broadcast after receiving the winner’s permission to record the conversation.  If the chosen entrant is notified by email, voicemail, or other answering device, he or she will have 24 hours from the time we contact them to respond.  If the chosen entrant does not contact us back within the time limit, he or she will be disqualified, and another winner will be chosen from all eligible entrants.  This process will continue until a winner is identified.  There will be 39 winners, for a total of $39,000 given away.  We will make reasonable efforts to award Prizes within 30 days after winning. Winner will be notified by phone when the check is ready for pick up at the station.

One winner will receive a last chance prize package. Last chance prize winner will be randomly selected from entries submitted only to KAFE, KPUG, KBAI, KISM, and KGMI by staff on 10/30. Last chance prize winner will take home a prize package including:

  • A Weekend Getaway with a Prime Rib Dinner at the Lopez Islander Resort ($934 value)
  • A blackout mini golf party for 10 at Volli Bellingham ($300)

Total last chance prize value is $1,234. Prize non-transferrable nor redeemable for cash. Winner responsible for all local/state/federal taxes. Restrictions and blackout dates are at the discretion of the hotel and the hotel only.

KPUG will conduct this contest concurrently and simultaneously with other affiliated radio stations, and in various states.  Listeners of KPUG will, therefore, be competing with listeners of other radio stations to win the same prize.  No purchase necessary. In the case of any query or discrepancy, the winner will ultimately be decided at the sole discretion of Saga Communications, Inc.

KPUG contests are open to all eligible Bellingham, WA Residents who live or work within 75 miles of our transmitter 18 or older who have not won anything on KPUG in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.

One entry per person, per keyword, per day, per station in Bellingham, WA. Submitting more than one entry per person, per keyword, per day, per station in Bellingham, WA will invalidate all entries by that contestant. Any entry submitted on behalf of another individual or using another person’s email address or name will be disqualified and ineligible to claim any prize.  Any attempt by any participant to obtain more than the stated number of entries allowed by using same, multiple/different email addresses, identities, or any other methods void that participant’s entries, and that participant may be disqualified. In the event of a dispute as to any on-line registration, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address used to register will be deemed to be the registrant and he/she must be eligible according to these Official Rules. No mechanically reproduced or automated entries permitted.  Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification and all such entries will be deemed void.

Employees of KPUG, Cascade Radio Group, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one-hundred-mile radius of the KPUG’s main studio are not eligible to win any contest.  Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.

No purchase necessary. KPUG’s Sole responsibility will be to award the prize. KPUG will have no further responsibility in connection with the prize if the prize winner, for any reason, cannot or decides not to use any of the prizes. Winners will be responsible for all federal and state taxes, and any fees and incidentals. Prizes are not transferrable or redeemable for cash.
