KPUG has teamed up with the Les Schwab Tire Centers of Whatcom County to honor the prep student athlete of the year. Student athletes from all 11 Whatcom County High Schools are elligible and you’ll get an opportunity to decide who the ultimate winner will be.

Rules:

Each month, from October 2016 through June 2017, the athletic director of the 11 high schools within Whatcom County can submit their nomination for the Student Athlete of the Month. Each nominee is decided upon by the school’s Athletic Director, or other school employee as determined by each school’s administration, based on the school’s individual criteria, in their sole discretion. A school may not nominate a student athlete who has won, more than one month in the contest period.

Each Student Athlete of the Month will be placed on KPUG’s website. From the 9th-16th of each month, listeners can vote for their favorite through UPICKEM.  To vote, listeners must register with all required information for UPICKEM and agree to terms.

Nomination deadlines for each month are the 3rd day of each month, October 2016 through June 2017.  All nominations will be for the prior calendar month.  The voting takes place from 5:00pm on the 17th of the month to 5:00pm the 24th of each month.

At the conclusion of each month’s voting process, one monthly winner will be named based on the qualified entrant with the most votes.  At approximately 12:00pm on June 13, 2017, one winner will be randomly drawn from all 9 monthly finalists for the grand prize.  Winner and their school’s athletic director will be notified by telephone at approximately 12:00pm on June 13, 2017 and announced on KPUG 1170 at approximately 12:00pm.

There will be no monthly prizes awarded.  After voting concludes for June 2017, the 9 (maximum) winning students will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing, to be held June 13, 2017 at approximately 12:00pm.

The grand prize winner will be drawn by KPUG staff and will receive a $500 donation, in the form of a check, to the school’s Associated Student Body Fund of the winning school. Prize based on donation provided by contest sponsor.

Winners will be chosen in the sole discretion of KPUG. You may only qualify one time. Submitting more than one entry per person will invalidate all entries by that contestant. Any entry submitted on behalf of another individual or using another person’s email address or name will be disqualified and ineligible to claim any prize.  Any attempt by any participant to obtain more than the stated number of entries allowed by using same, multiple/different email addresses, identities, or any other methods void that participant’s entries and that participant may be disqualified. In the event of a dispute as to any on-line registration, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address used to register will be deemed to be the registrant and he/she must be eligible according to these Official Rules. No mechanically reproduced or automated entries permitted.  Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification and all such entries will be deemed void.

No purchase necessary. KPUG’s Sole responsibility will be to award the prize. KPUG will have no further responsibility in connection with the prize if the prize winner, for any reason, cannot or decides not to use any of the prizes. Winners will be responsible for all federal and state taxes, and any fees and incidentals. Prizes are not transferrable or redeemable for cash.

To submit an entry, you must register and agree to terms for UPICKEM through www.KPUG1170.com and provide all applicable contact information during the registration process.

KPUG contests are open to all eligible Washington state residents, age 18 or older, that have not won anything on KPUG in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.

Employees of KPUG, Saga Broadcasting, LLC dba Cascade Radio Group, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the KPUG main studio are not eligible to win any contest.  Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.

These rules will supersede rules posted on the UPICKEM website.
