Log on to KPUG1170.com and click the link to participate in our March Fever UPICKEM contest. You click the Log in/Sign up button to fill out a few short questions about your name, age, contact info, etc. You return to this website and log in to make your picks for each game of the NCAA college basketball tournament. It is a round-by-round contest so you return after each round to pick who you think will win each game. You do not have to enter a pick for every game, but if you do not, that game will go un-scored. So participants will want to keep coming back and making their picks.

Participants can sign up at any point in the contest. Participants can begin making their picks of the games starting Monday, April 18th following “Selection Sunday” when the teams and games are announced. But participants are free to make picks throughout the tournament, even if they miss the first few rounds. The end date for each round of the contest is March 22, March 24, March 29, March 31, April 6 and April 8.
There are prizes awarded for the winner of each round of the tournament. The first round concludes March 22. The second round concludes March 24th. The third round concludes March 29th. The fourth round concludes March 31st. The fifth round concludes April 6th and the sixth and final round concludes April 8th. There will also be a grand prize winner awarded at the end of the contest – April 8th.
The local prizes are as follows: Round 1 - a $25 gift certificates to Westside Pizza. Round 2 – a $25 gift certificate to Westside Pizza. Round 3 a pair of Sterling black onyx earrings from Borthwick Jewelry valued at $79. Round 4 – a $50 gift certificate for any service at Dewey Griffin. Rounds 1-6 a 4-pack of tickets to the home opener for the Bellingham Slam basketball team. The local grand prize is season tickets to the Bellingham Slam.
Pizza gift certificates are $25 each. $50 to Dewey Griffin. Borthwick Jewelry earrings are valued at $79. The Bellingham Slam basketball tickets are $40 for the 4-pack of tickets. The Bellingham Slam pair of season tickets are valued at $100. All values based on retail value, as stated by each contest sponsor.
Winners will be decided March 22, March 24, March 29, March 31, April 6 and April 8. The winners are decided based on how well they correctly pick the winners of the games of the NCAA basketball tournament. UPICKEM is the company that runs this contest and they generate the winners based on the results of how many games participants picked correctly. UPICKEM then sends KPUG an email with the winners’ names and contact email and phone number. Games picked correctly in Round 1 are worth 2 points. Games picked correctly in Round 2 are 4 points. Games picked correctly in Round 3 are 8 points. Games picked correctly in Rounds 4-6 are 16 points. Each round includes a “tie-breaker” question where instead of just picking which team will win, you also predict the exact score of the game. This is UPICKEM’s tie breaking procedure.
KPUG AM 1170 contests are open to all eligible U.S. Citizens, residing in Washington state 18 or older have not won anything on KPUG in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.
Employees of KPUG AM 1170, Cascade Radio Group, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the KPUG main studio are not eligible to win any contest. Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
