Seattle, Wash. (Metro) -- The massive machine that will bore the Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement tunnel is to set sail for Seattle today. The state Department of Transportation says the trip from Japan will take about two weeks. A nearly 500-foot-long ship is bringing the five-story machine across the Pacific in 41 pieces. Reassembly and testing at the work site will probably start in late April and will take about two months. Copyright © 2013 Metro Networks Inc.
