Local Service Members Lose Tuition Assistance Under Sequester

Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash  (Metro)  -- Soldiers at Joint Base Lewis-McChord are starting to feel the automatic federal spending cuts now taking effect around the country.

"The News Tribune" says many of them are losing up to $4,500 each in tuition assistance for college-level education programs.

A visiting Army official also told base personnel Thursday that the cuts could force the Army to cut positions faster.
