Open Healthcare Enrollment Starts Now

Washington State -- If you need to enroll your child in your individual health plan, now is the time to do it.

Insurance Commissioner Office spokesperson Stephanie Marquis says today kicks off the first open enrollment period of the year.

It continues through April 30 and children under the age of 19 can qualify.

There are some exceptions.

People can apply outside of the deadline in cases of divorce, loss of employer-sponsored coverage, or moving to where the plan is not available.

Starting January 1, insurers will not be able to deny coverage to anyone with a pre-existing condition per the Affordable Healthcare Act.
