Fight At Basketball Tournament Leads To Stabbing

Deming, Wash. -- An argument over an old debt allegedly led to a stabbing at Mount Baker High School in Deming over the weekend.

Two men were watching a girls’ basketball tournament at the school on Saturday morning when they started arguing outside the gym.

Whatcom County Sheriffs Sergeant Scott Huso says the argument quickly turned into a fist fight.

He says that's when 32-year-old Larry Fenner pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the other man in the left shoulder.

The victim received only a minor injury.

Officers from Everson Police, Nooksack Tribal Police and Customs and Border Protection arrived at the high school to help during the incident.
