House GOP Wants Changes Before Vote On Gas Tax

Olympia, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Republican members of the Washington State House are calling for "economic and transportation reforms" before they'll consider increasing the state's gas tax.

Representative Ed Orcutt, who's the ranking Republican on the House Transportation Committee, says he wants to find out how the state can make its gas tax dollars go further before asking taxpayers for more money.

House Democrats have submitted a ten-billion-dollar transportation package which includes a proposal to increase the gas tax.
