Poll Shows Opposition To Higher Gas And Car-tab Taxes

Seattle, Wash.  (Metro)  -- A new statewide poll shows most voters in Washington oppose higher taxes on gasoline and car tabs.

The Elway poll of over 400 registered voters shows 72-percent of those questioned are against a higher gasoline tax, while 62-percent are against an increase for car tabs.

The proposed tax hikes are included in a ten-billion dollar transportation package being pushed by House Democrats.

The survey also shows that 70-percent of the voters questioned rated Washington's transportation system as "satisfactory" or better.
