Western President Bruce Shepard has announced that the university will offset possible cuts in federal financial aid for their students for the current or coming academic year.
Western spokesperson Paul Cocke says the university will draw from its reserves to make up the difference.
About 8,500 Western students currently receive some federal financial aid.
The university may have to give students a one-time cash infusion of about $800,000 to offset the possible cuts.
