Bellingham, Wash. (Metro) -- A Bellingham tax preparer pleads guilty to a misdemeanor charge of stalking after harassing his ex-girlfriend for nearly a year and a half.
Fifty-four-year-old Charles Lysander Storrs IV was sentenced to 20 days of jail alternatives and 80 hours of community service after entering the plea in Whatcom County Superior Court.
Prosecutors say Storrs executed an "outrageous" type of stalking when he glued entrances to his ex-girlfriend's home shut, turned the gas off to the house, cut her telephone and cable lines, and dumped paint remover on her vehicle.
Storrs told the judge he pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge because he couldn't continue as a tax preparer with a felony on his record.
