Legislation Would Impose Ten-Cent Fuel Tax Increase

Olympia, Wash.  (Metro)  -- A bill that's to be introduced today at the capitol would add a ten-cents-per-gallon increase to Washington's gasoline tax.

Should the measure pass, it would increase taxes paid at the gas pump to 47-point-five-cents per gallon in Washington.

Officials say revenue generated by the tax increase would fund road projects across the state.

Governor Jay Inslee has been asked by mayors of more than 40 cities across Washington to consider raising the gas tax to fund transportation projects.
