Free Dental Exams For Kids This Saturday

Whatcom County, Wash. -- Whatcom County's 9th annual Free Kids Dental Exam and Sealant Day is this Saturday.

Each year, the Mount Baker Dental Hygienists' Society provides free exams, x-rays, cleanings, sealants and fluoride treatments for low-income children in the community.

Society President Nona Groesbeck says 42-percent of Whatcom County kids have cavities by age five, and less than half of them have seen a dentist.

Groesbeck says they have a goal of serving 100 kids.

The appointments will be held at Interfaith Dental Clinic on Unity Street.

Dentists have also volunteered to provide fillings and other dental care at their offices for kids who need it.

To make an appointment for a child, call 360-714-9010 and leave a message.
