State Patrol Looks to Skagit County For New Recruits

Skagit County, Wash. -- The State Patrol is stepping up its recruiting efforts in our area.

It’s looking to fill upwards of 300 trooper positions over the next few years.

For the first time ever, officials will offer Phase I testing in Skagit County.

Next month’s event will require candidates to first pass a physical agility test followed by two written exams in order to advance in the lengthy selection process.

Local recruiter, Trooper Keith Leary says about one-third of its force will be retiring by 2015 and they need to find replacements.

The testing will take place on March 2 at 7:30 a.m. at Burlington Edison High School.
