Troubles Reported On Takeoff With Certain Boeing 737NG Engines

Seattle, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Boeing is warning airlines flying 737s outfitted with next-generation engines that there could be trouble on takeoff.

"The Seattle Times" says some 737NG engines have had sudden power surges during the most critical stage of climbing to cruise altitude.

Boeing says there have been 32 events, 17 of them on Alaska Airlines.

It says some pilots have aborted their flights.  Boeing suspects a fuel supply problem.
