Ferndale Man Found After House Fire, SWAT Search

FERNDALE, Wash. -- A Ferndale man is in custody after a fire at his home this morning and an ensuing SWAT team search.

Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks would not confirm if the fire was arson, but says deputies feared Kenneth Cassell may have been armed and on the run.

Cassell was sentenced this past fall for animal cruelty in a puppy mill case.

Parks says deputies and Bellingham police officers found Cassell in downtown Bellingham and took him in for questioning.

Cassell told KGMI last year that he believed the authorities were out to get him.
