Man Wanted After High Speed Chase Through Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Eleven years to the day after a Whatcom County Deputy was killed in the line of duty, police ask for the public’s help finding the same man that began that deadly car chase.

Bellingham Police spokesman Mark Young says 30-year-old Adrian Sassen Van Elsloo led police on a high speed chase through Bellingham Friday after a traffic stop.

Sassen Van Elsloo ditched the car and escaped, leaving a passenger behind.

She was not injured.

Sassen van Elsloo was involved in the 2001 chase that led to the crash that killed Whatcom County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Herzog.

Sassen Van Elsloo is five foot ten inches, 185 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.

Residents are asked to be alert and contact police with any information.
