Mayor Kelli Linville will officially introduce Chief Clifford Cook to city council members and the Bellingham community next Monday, February 11 during an open council meeting.
57-year-old Cook started the job on Monday and replaces Chief Todd Ramsay, who retired in December.
Cook says he took the position because the department is well respected among other forces.
He also says his first order of business is to get to know the community and his colleagues before he makes any significant changes within the department.
Cook brings 36-years of law enforcement experience in Detroit, Fort Worth, and Vancouver, Washington, where he served as police chief for five years.
People can also watch a live telecast of the meeting on Bellingham TV Channel 10 and on the city’s web site.
