Boeing Asks FAA To Allow 787 Flights For Battery Tests

Seattle, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Boeing confirms that it has asked the Federal Aviation Administration to let it fly some 787 Dreamliners for battery tests.

Only flight crews and technicians would be on board.

Meanwhile, King 5 reports that airlines are starting to ferry grounded 787s back to maintenance bases.

Boeing is proposing to put suspect lithium-ion batteries in a stronger containment box and vent them to the outside.
