Lighthouse Mission Needs a Lift

Bellingham, Wash. -- Bellingham’s Lighthouse Mission invites the public to celebrate its 90 anniversary by helping with a badly needed upgrade.

Officials from the nonprofit announced its “90 days for 90 years” elevator fundraising campaign at a reception last night at the Whatcom Museum.

Administrators say they are in desperate need of funds to install an elevator in the outdated main facility to serve an ever-changing population.

Mission Executive Director Ron Buchinski says they have raised $66 thousand so far toward the $200,000 project.

The mission will host a variety of events between now and April to raise the money and help the mission continue to be a beacon of light to thousands of area homeless and needy people.
