Airsoft Guns Scare Mount Vernon School Into Lockdown

Mount Vernon, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Officials say an elementary school in Mount Vernon was placed on lockdown for about 20 minutes after three teenagers carrying what appeared to be high-powered rifles were seen walking toward the school.

No classes were held yesterday at Centennial Elementary, so there were no children at the school.

Authorities say police officers caught up with the boys, each of them 15 years old, on the school grounds and took them to the police station for questioning.

Police say the boys were actually carrying Airsoft rifles and possibly intended to play in the school's fields.
