Lawmakers Want Study Of Coal Trains Impacts

OLYMPIA, Wash.  (Metro)  -- A number of state lawmakers are now calling for a comprehensive study of what a lot more coal trains might do to the Puget Sound economy.

Democratic State Representative Reuven Carlyle of Seattle says the trains could disrupt car and ferry traffic and also hurt the environment.

As many as 18 coal trains a day could eventually crowd already crowded tracks through Seattle and Edmonds on their way to and from a new coal export terminal near Bellingham.
