Local Inventor Releases New Product

WHATCOM, Wash. -- A local inventor has released a product that many drivers might find useful on a dark, cold and frosty morning.

Jeff Latham of Sumas recently made the Icy Light, an ice scraper with a detachable flashlight, allowing users to see in the dark when they’re clearing ice and snow from vehicle windshields and windows.

Latham says he invented the icy light over a six year process, starting with help from Western Washington University’s small business development center.

After many sacrifices and setbacks, Latham hired the Hughes law office in Ferndale to get a patent pending for the icy light.

Fullner Christmas Tree Farm in Everson was the first store to carry the product this winter.

Now, Icy Light is in 17 retail locations in Whatcom County, and is available online at www.icylight.com.

Latham says he's working to catch the attention of retailers nationwide.
