Local Artist Gathers Bellinghamsters For World Hug Day

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A local artist is asking people to “embrace” their inner hugger.

Today is “World Hug Day,” and Bellingham jewelry designer Wave Redfish, known around the community for giving away carved stone hearts, is asking the public to gather for a group hug this afternoon at 1.

The mass hug is a way for people in Bellingham to contribute to making the world a better place to live and love.

Redfish says he discovered the hug concept while visiting the web site www.worldpeace.org.

He also says that hugs are infectious and create a bond that can have a positive effect on how people treat each other on a daily basis.

The event will take place on the back lawn of the Bellingham Public Library.
