Suspect Arrested After Burglaries In Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A suspect in two residential burglaries is nabbed by police after a scuffle with a local homeowner.

Bellingham resident Jacob Edward-Gene Stout was arrested late Wednesday afternoon after allegedly breaking into a home located on the 2300 block of Ellis Street near Carolina.

Police say the owner called 911 after arriving home around 4:30 to find the back door kicked-in and someone moving around upstairs.

Bellingham Police Sgt. Ken Brown says stout was apprehended by two officers a couple blocks away.

Brown also says that the suspect was found in possession of a backpack containing items belonging to the victim as well as a laptop stolen from another home down the street.

Stout was booked on first degree burglary charges and possession of stolen property.
