BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A local chapter of an international charity sends more aid to New York to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The Mount Baker chapter of the American Red Cross sent a nurse to New York this week to help those affected by the hurricane.
The Mount Vernon resident joins teams from our area that were deployed to New York, New Jersey, West Virginia and Washington D.C. in November and December.
Mount Baker Chapter Executive Director Stacy Rice says the volunteers--specifically trained in disaster relief--will provide comfort and guidance to those on the east coast who need it.
The Red Cross says Hurricane Sandy victims still have ongoing medical needs, and is asking the public to help by donating directly to the Mount Baker chapter or online at www.redcross.org.
