Cancer Center Opens Its Doors

Bellingham, WA (KGMI)  -- The public will be able to get a glimpse of Bellingham’s new one-stop cancer treatment facility this coming weekend.

The Peace Health St. Joseph Cancer Center saw it's first patient in mid December, but will host a grand opening this Saturday from 1 to 3 PM as it officially opens it's doors for business.

The 25 million dollar, 35 thousand square foot facility will eliminate the need for cancer patients to travel around the region to obtain radiation, chemotherapy and support services.

Cancer Center Medical Director Oncology Services Dr. Jennie Crews says having all aspects of cancer care under one roof will improve quality of care for patients and their families.

the celebration will feature staff tours of care areas, free chair massages, as well as raffles, door prize drawings, and healthy snacks that promote cancer-free living.
