HELP WANTED: Bellingham Sees Demand For Skilled Professionals

WHATCOM, Wash. -- Bellingham is seeing an increase in demand for highly skilled professionals.

Mary Beth Evans with Robert Half International Job Recruiting Firm says local employers are showing an interest in workers with college degrees and experience in technology, accounting and finance.

She says employers need to look at offering more benefits to keep their skilled employees.

With our aging population, Evans says Bellingham is also seeing an increase in health care jobs.

She says manufacturing and construction jobs are starting to come back as the economy recovers.

According to www.simplyhired.com, 24 percent of Bellingham workers have jobs in educational services, health care and social assistance, while 16 percent hold jobs in retail trade.
