No Charges Against Trooper Involved In Fatal Crash

MOUNT VERNON, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Charges will not be filed against a Washington State Patrol trooper who was involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian in August 2012.

The "Skagit Valley Herald" reports Hong Dinh Nguyen died after he was struck by a WSP patrol car in Mount Vernon on August 14 as the vehicle was exiting southbound Interstate 5 at the College Way off-ramp.

Skagit County Prosecutor Rich Weyrich says Nguyen was trying to cross I-5 at the time he was hit.

Weyrich says there's no evidence to warrant criminal charges against the trooper.
