Brave Souls Take A Chilly Dip

BLAINE, Wash. -- If extremes are your thing, head down to the waterfront at Birch Bay tomorrow morning.

The 30th annual Birch Bay Polar Bear Plunge will take place at 11 a.m. at the visitor information center on Birch Bay Drive.

Since 1982, people from around the world have descended on the area for the free event to throw themselves into the chilly waters and mark the New Year.

KGMI’s Radio Real Estate host Mike Kent also recommends coming at 9:30 a.m. to register for contests including “Best Individual” and “Best Group” costumes.

Registration also includes an “I Took the Plunge” certificate and hot beverages.
