Local Thrift Store Closed Due To Water Damage

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- One of Bellingham’s longest-running thrift stores is asking folks to hold on to their donations while the store remains closed through the holidays.

Wise Buys, located at 1224 N. State St., is closed for several weeks due to water damage.

The damage occurred on December 15 after a fire in an apartment above the store.

Wise Buys is operated by volunteers from Lydia Place, a nonprofit serving homeless people since 1989.
According to lydiaplace.org, much of the store's merchandise was either damaged or related to the holidays, so they will need donations of gently used clothing and household items when the store reopens in January.

Updates about Wise Buys will be available at lydiaplace.org.
