Sheriff’s Office Holds Shooter Response Training At Local Elementary

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office wants to stress that they will be conducting a regularly scheduled training exercise at Wade King Elementary school this morning.

Due to the recent tragic events in Connecticut and heightened public concern the Sheriff’s Office is letting people know the exercise is part of their ongoing training program involving schools and active shooter response and is not due to any recent reports or threats.

Local schools are in winter break so no students will be at the school on Yew Street Road near Bellingham and there will be signs posted letting people know of the exercise.

Uniformed members of the special response team will be at the school from 9 a.m. to about 2 p.m. this afternoon.
