Local Restaurant May Gain New Life

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Squalicum Harbor may see the Bayside Café reopen with a new look and new owners.

Port of Bellingham officials say that Latitude Restaurants Bellingham Inc., the new proprietors of what was the Bayside Café, will go before Port Commissioners Tuesday to outline their plan to renovate and update the restaurant’s former Squalicum Harbor location.

The Port had little concerns about finding a new tenant for the space.

Port Executive Director Rob Fix says that while he knows very little about the new owners, their restaurant in Poulsbo is very popular.

The Bayside Café, a Bellingham institution, closed its doors in October after a twenty year run.
