Gay Couples Celebrate The Big Day

WHATCOM, Wash. -- Dozens of local same-sex couples received their marriage licenses at the Whatcom County Courthouse yesterday morning.

Sarah Adams and Melissa Adams were the first to get their license from the county auditor’s office…

They’ve been a committed couple for four and a half years, while others in line say they’ve been together for decades.

They spoke emotionally about gaining the legal right to marry, and that Washington voters decided they deserve that right.

Many of the couples already have wedding plans, and some say they’ll take part in a ceremony planned by a local pastor at the courthouse Sunday afternoon.
