Alcoa, Bonneville Power Make History

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Top government officials are in Ferndale for a historic contract signing between Alcoa and the Bonneville Power Administration.

Keynote speaker, Senator Patty Murray, Governor Chris Gregoire, and Congressman Rick Larsen will join Alcoa, BPA and union officials this afternoon as an unprecedented ten year contract is signed at the Totem Terrace Lodge.

The contract will provide a long-term power supply for the region and bring job stability for union workers.

It is the first time that officials have signed a contract lasting more than two to five years without congressional intervention.
