Whatcom County Prepares For Christmas Tree Exports

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- What’s the best way to find that perfect Christmas tree? Experts recommend you pick ones that will last the longest no matter the variety.

Pacific Northwest Christmas Tree Association Executive Director Bryan Ostlund also says that Washington growers work hard all year round to ensure buyers have the best selection whether they cut them down at a farm or buy them from a retailer.

The Pacific Northwest exports 8-to-9 million trees annually around the world. And according to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Whatcom County ranks in the top 32 harvesters of Christmas trees in the country.
