City's Pot Laws Now Match State's

Bellingham, WA -- The Bellingham City Council has adopted changes to the city's marijuana laws now that voters in our state have legalized personal possession of pot.

The changes make it no longer a crime in Bellingham for people over 21 to possess marijuana and use it in private.

People in Bellingham can still get ticketed for smoking pot in public.

The new law allows adults to possess up to one ounce of marijuana, and up to 16 ounces of marijuana-infused products.
Washington voters last month approved Initiative 502, legalizing possession of marijuana in our state, although it is still illegal under federal law.
