Manslaughter Charges Dropped Against Police Officer

EVERETT, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Charges are dropped against a Marysville police officer whose daughter was accidentally shot to death.

Prosecutors dismissed the manslaughter charges against Derek Carlile after a mistrial had been declared earlier this month.

Carlile's 3-year-old son grabbed a revolver in the family van and shot his sister, 7-year-old Jenna.

A deputy prosecutor told the Everett "Herald" the charge was dismissed because she didn't think the case would result in a verdict.
