Fire Ravages Bellingham Kayak Builder

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A North Bellingham kayak shop owner watches his livelihood go up in flames.

A mid-day two-alarm fire destroyed Sterling Kayak on Kline Road in Bellingham yesterday.

Business owner Sterling Donaldson spoke to KGMI while the blaze fully engulfed his shop just after 1 p.m.

Donaldson knew there was a problem when he saw smoke and flames coming from an electrical outlet.

He was left to watch as the structure collapsed and decades of work burned.

Employees were at lunch so no one was injured.
