Democrats Pick Nominees For Key Legislative Seats, With GOP Included

OLYMPIA, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Senate Democrats have chosen Senator Jim Hargrove to lead the writing of the state operating budget next year and made Senator Tracey Eide their chief transportation budget writer.

"The Olympian" says they've also offered to create a new bipartisan committee to deal with school funding issues and to make conservative Democrat Tim Sheldon the Senate's President Pro-Tem.

"The Seattle Times" says Republicans could gain a stronger voice if Vancouver Senator Don Benton survives a re-election recount.
